Exhibition “iMaterial”
May – July, 2018
First presented in 2017 at the Museum of Art of Ribeirão Preto, iMaterial addresses our relationships with physical and virtual spaces and time. Not just chronological time, or specific moments, but a “time” that interacts with both collective and personal memory.
iMaterial, exhibited at Museum of Art of Goiânia, showcases new works from artists Alexandre Frangioni and João Carlos de Souza. Alexandre appropriates the meaning of certain materials to evoke memories and values we associate with meaningful events in our lives, represented through the materials used in his works, such as the word pago (paid), stamps, and children’s objects. João Carlos, on the other hand, uses lights to reconstruct historically significant works of art. Light constructs sculptures.
Light constructs a balance. Light constructs moving pictures.
The materials used by Alexandre and the light used by João Carlos interact with and complement each other through the exhibition design, revealing the subjective iMaterial in their work.
